MESSAGE

My warmest greetings to the organizers, guests, and delegates to the Opening Ceremony of the World Internet of Things Convention (WIOTC) Beijing Summit.

The Philippines has just taken a giant leap towards real and last change. We have strengthened ties with partner-countries to deepen diplomatic and multi-cultural relations, and have cultivated knowledge-based industries that support the progress and empowerment of our people.

As we embark on this new journey, we also need to invest in new systems that make use of information and communications technologies to spur growth in our economy. New investments in people and innovations will bring forth economic development that is sustainable and consistent with our national strategies, policies, and programs.

May this summit focus on the global dimension of an emerging economic industry that transcends physical borders and expands technical standards on Internet of Things (IOT) related technologies and systems. With your theme of creating a new economy for an IOT world, I am confident that you will usher in a new era where everything is interconnected so that people can make more informed decisions and create many practical improvements in their lives.

As a preliminary summit initiated by the World Chinese Business Alliance and other international organizations, may this World Internet of Things Convention Summit in Beijing be a successful event. I wish everyone a meaningful and engaging gathering.
