2021WIOTC · Summit Forum Opens Online
On November 30, 2021, 2021 WIOTC Summit Forum was successfully held online. Centering on the theme "Creating the New Pattern of IoT Era, Building the New Economy of IoT World", this summit forum was opened as a prelude to 2021 World Internet of Things Convention, the sixth conference since the inception of this annual IoT event. Congratulatory letters were sent by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and the President Office of the European Commission as a way of honoring the forum with their presence. Mr. Sirous Vatankhah Moghaddam, President of Center for Progress and Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Presidency, and Mr. Andreas Dripke, Global Chairman of the Diplomatic Council, addressed this summit forum. Mr. He Xuming, Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee, gave a keynote speech as Mr. Shi Dinghuan, Executive Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee, made a rough explanation of the new version of World Internet of Things White Paper, and Mr. Zhang Hua, Executive Vice Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee, outlined the World Internet of Things Convention Organization Articles. Mr. Li Bohu, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chief Technological Chairman of WIOTC, delivered a special report at the forum. Nearly ten million viewers and attendees including government leaders, ambassadors, councilors, experts, academicians, and corporate and media representatives from 80 some countries and regions joined and watched this online forum, which was hosted by Mr. Shen Jie, ISO/IEC Reference Architecture Editor and Vice Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee and Mrs. Liang Zi, Vice Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee and Spokeswoman.

In their speeches, Mr. Sirous Vatankhah Moghaddam, President of Center for Progress and Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Presidency, and Mr. Andreas Dripke, Global Chairman of the Diplomatic Council, mentioned that IoT infrastructure construction and economic innovative development represent the huge tide and trend of progress and development of human society and another great revolution and evolution for the world economy and society. So, it is necessary, which they think, to have an IoT innovative international organization like WIOTC to coordinate with government agencies and enterprises of countries from all over the world in a common endeavor to promote the infrastructure construction of global IoT and industrial economic development. Meanwhile, they also wished the summit forum and 2021 WIOTC a complete success.
In his report, Mr. He Xuming, Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee, said: "As for the construction and development of IoT, the world has seen a process of concept hyping, implementation, application and experiment, development of industrial system platform, network infrastructure construction and industrial application and innovation", adding "And now we are at the junction of establishing IoT new economic market." "China is taking the lead across the globe in terms of IoT infrastructure construction and exploration and experiment of Industrial application," he continued, "The country has established 1.2 million 5G base stations." He mentioned that according to estimates, China’s GDP is expected to reach 18 trillion US dollars, representing a growth rate of over 8%, while the output of IoT economy will exceed 2 trillion yuan, marking a growth rate of 30% or so. "The USA boasts great strength, which is well reflected in the research and development of cutting-edge technology and high-end chips with an incentive plan including 200 billion US dollars. In addition to this, countries such as Germany, French, UK, Netherlands, Japan and Iran are experiencing intelligent upgrading of industrial IoT production and manufacturing. This year is expected to see the output of global IoT economy equaling more than 8 trillion US dollars, increasing by 25% on an annual basis." Furthermore, he observed, "The latest version of Internet of Things White Paper published in 2021 shows the cognition, positioning, definition, theoretical basis and direction of new IoT, and the positioning of IoT is to define Internet of Things as an ecological network of smart world combining informatization, digitalization and intelligence and as a carrier of global new economy where a new generation of information technology and digital economy and real economy integrate deeply with one another". "To achieve the interconnection of all things, the connection is the basis, interconnectivity the key, ecological system the goal, and IoT new economy the core," he stressed. Mr. He Xuming suggested that we would let the World Internet of Things Convention give full play its role, beginning to admit all government agencies to the IoT international organization as members of its Presidium in order to formulate the IoT International Convention on the basis of consultation under the framework of the United Nations, protect the rights and interests of all countries and the privacy of people’s life, thus fundamentally addressing the issue of global connection.
Mr. Li Bohu, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, made a special report on the new type of IoT system. He explained "Smart IoT Research and Initial Practices" based upon the new era, new situation and new journey, outlining the connotation, system, architecture, technological, key technology of new type of IoT system — "Smart IoT". In addition, he introduced the applied scenes and practical cases of smart IoT system developed by some teams of project department of Chinese Academy of Engineering in the fields of manufacturing, agriculture, energy, medical care, traffic and environmental protection. Especially, he said the technology, architecture, economic model of new IoT will cover areas of "national economy, people’s livelihood and national security; and its system, model, and technological approach and mode of business are greatly changing towards the new model, new technology and new mode of business of digitalization, networking, cloud, and intelligence, which can be simply understood as a new type of building of IoT and IoT new economy.
Mr. Shi Dinghuan, Executive Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee, elucidated the new version of World IoT White Paper. The 2021 World Internet of Things White Paper encapsulates basic explanations regarding the emergence of cognition, definition and attribute, framework and system, standard and requirement, new economic model and convention organization as well as development of global IoT new economy of World IoT featuring the global interconnection of all things, with the aim of promoting the IoT construction and IoT new economic development and establishing a smart and intelligent world where all things are interconnected.
Proceeding from a historical vision and perspective of world economic and social development and progress, the new edition of World IoT White Paper provides a complete and clear elaboration of the cognition, definition, attribute, and theoretical basis of new IoT. Containing the key issues of IoT construction, IoT new economic model, and development of globalized market, the work also expounds the development direction of IoT basic network, with a focus on introducing the basic structure and requirements of visualized real-time tracking and post-hoc tracing based on the architecture and system of IoT. Classifying IoT economic market systems into 17 fields involving industry, agriculture, energy, transportation and internet of vehicles, healthcare, logistics and storage, aerospace and smart life in an innovative way, the White Paper introduces the directions of IoT new economic model and economic market building, thus offering important reference with which countries in the world can narrow the digital divide and create IoT global new economy.
Mr. Zhang Hua gave a brief introduction of the IoT International Convention Organization Articles. "WIOTC is an IoT international organization featuring the global interconnection of all things, which is open, innovative and non-profit. The purpose of the organization is to build a smart and intelligent world where all things are interconnected. The organization is committed to carrying out the goal and task of promoting the IoT construction and the innovative development of economy and society in countries from all over the world, building a global market of IoT new economy, delivering benefits to world people in terms of intelligent and smart life and work and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals under the framework of the United Nations". He suggests, "WIOTC is starting to welcome government agencies, scientific institutions, social organizations and enterprises from all countries and regions in the world to apply for the membership of the organization’s Presidium for the purpose of jointly formulating the IoT international convention." He elaborated on the conditions, rights, interests and rules of procedure of joining the organization.
Based on the subject "Digitalization as a key driver of development", Mr. Zhang Weidong, UNDP CHINA Assistant Resident Representative, talked about the importance and development prospect of IoT. He pointed out that this conference will serve as a positive driver for global IoT construction and economic development.
At the same time, he also noted that strategic innovation and digitalization are the priority of the strategic goal of UNDP, saying "digitalization plays a crucial role in dealing with the epidemic and natural disaster. He suggested that UNDP will help China and other countries to resolve development issues, realize sustainable development goals, address climate changes and respond to crisis facing human existence by relying on digitalization in the years to come, while putting more emphasis on green technology. He also showed a prospect for IoT: it will be applied to broader areas aimed at tacking current challenges and propelling the development of mankind; IoT can be applied to people-to-people communication, thus helping to establish partnerships.
Mr. Andrey Kolesnikov, Director of the IoT Association of Rusia, spoke on the title of "IoT in Russia: towards international cooperation", which presented the situation of IoT in Russia. "Due to Covid-19 in 2021, market will not go above 9% growth (including 2020), with 6% CAGR next four years", he said. "In Russia, we have two world class ‘no code/low code’ IoT platforms as well as hundreds of vertical platforms." When talking about the IoT expectations, he mentioned the fact that in Russia, the industrial IoT penetration will reach 60% by 2025. He also observed that Russia will strengthen the applications of LEO IoT from space, digital roads/ cars, 5G for business, smart city, and digital forest offset solutions. Besides, he summarized the prospect of IoT towards international cooperation, expressing hope to engage in WIOTC, the IoT international organization for jointly advancing the establishment of world IoT convention.
Additionally, he added that the open source and open architecture are the core of IoT and that many good progresses and results have been made in professional cooperation, such as RISC-V international, Linux Foundation, Industry IoT consortium, Open RAN and LWM2M consortium. He also proposed that multilateral organization should be focusing on global IoT issues, such as trust, security, people protection, law compatibility and regulatory adoption between different nations.
Mr. Detkef Tenhagen, Chairman of DIN NA "IoT", shared the situation of IoT international standard and focused upon the theme of "Digital Twin". According to him, beyond technological standard, there should also be IoT international convention, through which we can realize the global interconnection of all things in real sense.
He showed that our cooperation with the Standardization Administration of the P.R.C and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Industrial 4.0 and Research on IoT Digital Twin have yielded some outcomes, and related reports will be released in 2022. He also said we have combined the standards of ISO and IEC to push forward the technological development of IoT between China and Germany, for which relevant plans are already made for the cooperation of two countries. He suggested that the focus of the work of digital IoT should be shifted towards the nature of mutual operation with IoT digital twin and IoT system, hoping to conduct cooperation in more fields with China and other countries.
Mr. Martin Schnauss related to the application of IoT and AI in Swiss asset management and family office as well as innovative applications and cases of IoT in finance and insurance. He expressed a very positive attitude toward the new cognition, architecture and development direction of economic building mentioned in the World Internet of Things White Paper, all of which provide guiding suggestions on the IoT infrastructure construction, industrial economic development and digital economic market building of Swiss and other countries in the world.
In his speech, Mr. Sajjad Ahadzadeh observed that the Iranian government attaches great importance to the infrastructure construction of IoT and industrial economic development, and strategic cooperation between China and Iran has been set in motion. He hoped that all these initiatives can press ahead with the international cooperation of emerging technologies in different countries including Iran and China, especially in the fields of IoT and AI. "We are willing to cooperate with international organizations including WIOTC to promote the industrial economic development of IoT and AI in the Middle East and other countries of the world", he said.
Making a special speech called "Huawei Industry IoT: Digitalizing Manufacturing", Mr. Zhang Wei, Huawei Cloud China Industry Solutions Chief Expert, mentioned that the key challenges facing digitalizing manufacturing lie in the realization of personalized customization, networking collaboration, intelligent manufacturing and service-based extension. According to him, Huawei Cloud IoT industrial internet supports the connection of all factors at manufacturing sites and makes factories achieve digital twin by allowing terminal side cloud for collaborative data collection, making possible one-stop data handling, modeling and analysis. At the same time, this can form an industrial ecological workstation, which empowers the fast integration of solutions based on scenes, provides smart storage and logistics, achieves digitalizing modeling of whole services of storage and contributes to dynamic and closed supply and production. With these, digitalizing production line, manufacturing KIP and optimization, quality control and tracing will be made possible. He said Huawei is willing to cooperate with high-tech enterprises and governments, providing support and service for global partners and users.
Mr. Nie Jing, General Manager of Tencent IoT Cloud and Big Data Products, made a speech titled "IoT industry upgrading towards digitalization and intelligentization", relating to solutions and applied cases of Tencent industrial IoT, consumption IoT, LLink low-carbon governance platform, smart home, smart consumption as well as the development and application, amount of connection and new results of Tencent in the IoT field and effects achieved by human-machine through Wechat connection. Finally, he expressed support and willingness to attend the World Internet of Things Convention.
Mr. Maciej Zawadziński spoke with the theme of "Suggestions and opinions on applications and future development of IoT and digital economy". He talked about the fact that IoT produced digital economy, and big data of IoT will become the gold/ oil in the future, so great priorityto IoT actually means digital economy of sustainable development. "We are willing to work with relevant technological enterprises from China and other countries in the world to boost IoT economic development", he said.
Xu Zhenyu, Chairman of Anhui Langkun IoT Co., Ltd., gave a speech called" IoT in agriculture promotes rural revitalization, pointing out that agricultural IoT has undergone more than 20 years of development with four stages of technological leaps: from the first generation of data collection and transmission function to the second generation of system application integration for the realization of scenes and controllability, and to the third generation of accessing data comprehensive analysis and value-added service function relying on big data and cloud computing and finally to the fourth generation of IoT technology focusing on using computer visualization and artificial intelligence technology to strengthen agricultural intelligence and unmanned agriculture. He said, when compared with traditional modes of agriculture, the future agriculture will see marked improvements in "targeted, automated, standard, integrated, visualized and convenient" aspects. He also introduced the explorations and applications of Anhui Langkun IoT Co., Ltd as the first company involving the field of agricultural IoT.
Huong TAN, Chairman of Radio Mandarin d’ Europe of France, delivered a speech entitled "Les chiffres clefs du marché de l’Internet des objets en France". "As a traditional power, France has made many efforts in the intelligent upgrading and transformation of industrial IoT, willing to work with WIOTC to promote the infrastructure construction and industrial development of world IoT so as to benefit all peoples of the world including French in terms of smart production, work and life and hoping to jointly discuss the formulation of IoT international convention, thus facilitating the innovative development of world economy and society," he suggested.
Su Tao, Executive Vice Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee, made a summary of this summit forum. He said this forum serves as a prelude to 2021 World Internet of Things Convention, showcasing the cutting-edge and leading influence of the convention. It sounded the horn for IoT technological construction and industrial economic development and provided a direction for the construction and development of IoT for all countries in the world.
