World IoT Top 500 Summit 2022 Opened in Beijing
On August 5, 2022, World IoT Top 500 Summit in 2022 was convened in Beijing, China as a prelude to the coming 2022 WIOTC Annual Conference. Themed “Powering the Infrastructure Construction of IoT Worldwide, Leading the Innovative Progress of Global Digital Economy”, the summit was brought to the fore as the Industrial IoT Forum, International Forum on the Development of New Economy, release of 2022 World IoT Ranking List Top 500 as well as 2022 WIOTC Annual Conference Press Conference were held in a row. Prof. Shahbaz Khan, Director of the UNESCO Office in China, ZHANG Qin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC, HE Xuming, Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee, and Andreas Dripke, Global Chairman of the Diplomatic Council, spoke at the Opening Ceremony of the summit. HE Qiang, Vice Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee and Executive Secretary-General, gave a keynote report while Sun Yu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a special speech named “Development and Innovation of IoT in China”. During the Industrial IoT Forum, special speeches were made by the representatives of enterprises on the World IoT Ranking List Top 500, including CHAI Xudong, General Manager of CASICloud, CHEN Yudong, President of Bosch (China), Executive Vice President of Haier COSMOPlat Industrial Intelligence Research Institute, etc. Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice President of the European Commission, sent a congratulatory message for the success of the summit. Nearly ten million people, who consist of common audience, government representatives, ambassadors, diplomats, experts, academicians, and those from IoT companies and media, attended and watched the World IoT Top 500 summit online and offline. Besides, the CASICloud co-organized the Industrial IoT Forum at the summit.
In his speech, Prof. Shahbaz Khan, Director of the UNESCO Office in China, said, “As an IoT international organization ( NGO recognized by the United Nations Economic and Social Council), WIOTC can play a positive and constructive role in promoting the recovery and innovative development of world economy by organizing the summit and leverage its full ability to lead and organize as an IoT international organization. China is the largest developing country, but it has set such a good example for IoT development. This is especially of importance for the reference of the world. We need to work together to build a world where people can share the prosperity based on mutually beneficial principle. We also need to work in unison to narrow the digital gap, which is also part of what WIOTC is contributing to. Joining hands to make the best of digital technology and data is so necessary that we can connect all sectors of the society. We find it essential to ponder over the future to make possible more inclusive development and use IoT to reduce differences of social classes cross the society. Employing the advantage of IoT to push the envelope is also a characteristic of our new era”. Finally, he extended congratulations on the success of the summit.
“As a major country rich in innovative development, China is well positioned to become a pioneer of exploration, experiment, practice and application of IoT and digital economy, thus providing a good reference for many countries in terms of economic and social progress. This year, China will establish over 2 million 5G base stations, and digital industrialization and industrial digitalization will become the general trend. China has seen the output of its digital new economy exceed trillion yuan and its economy and society transition from the era of internet to the time of digital economy characterized by internet of things. This entails an international communicative platform like WIOTC to play an active role in this era, ” said ZHANG Qin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC.
Addressing the opening ceremony, HE Xuming, Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee, pointed out: “The world with once-in-a-century changes is capricious, but peace and development are invariably the defining trend of the world. The change from the era of internet to the time of internet of things will become an inevitable trend and tide to which economic and social progress and development in the world will bear witness. Enterprises which are on the World IoT Ranking List Top 500 represent the direction and trend of global IoT construction and innovative development of digital economy, boast 70 percent of output of global new economy of internet of things and hold the key to the future of digital economic development. With these, they will make a greater contribution to the IoT infrastructure construction and innovative development of digital economy in all countries as well as social progress of mankind. As an international IoT organization, WIOTC should undertake the duty of advancing the recovery of world economy and society, commending and encouraging the innovative development of target companies on the WIOTRL. In order to support the establishment of ecosystem and market of industries for all countries in the world, WIOTC is building the Commission on IoT and Digital Economy - consisting of multiple sectors involving industry, agriculture, logistics, auto intelligence, energy, environmental protection, healthcare, and aerospace – which will be officially established at the 2022 WIOTC Annual Conference”.
In his speech, Andreas Dripke, Global Chairman of the Diplomatic Council, said, “The Diplomatic Council will continue to cooperate with World Internet of Things Convention to promote international exchanges and cooperation and benefit world people from smart life.”
In his keynote report, HE Qiang, Vice Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee and Executive Secretary-General, mentioned, “Internet of things, an ecological network combining digitalization, informatization, and intelligence, represent a carrier of global new economy where real economy integrates with new generation of information technology. The World Internet of Things Convention categorizes global IoT digital economy into tens of industrial systems involving industry, agriculture, energy, logistics, auto intelligence, healthcare, smart city, and artificial intelligence, etc. We welcome global enterprises of IoT and digital economy, government agencies, and thinktanks to play an active part in advising for the effort to promote the innovative development of world economy and society. Currently, developing and under-developed countries remain in the initial stage of IoT development with great potential for development in this regard. We also hope to devote ourselves to the building of an intelligent world where all things are interconnected as an international organization like WIOTC to strengthen communication and interaction with all government agencies and enterprises”.
In his academician report, SU Yu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, highlighted, “The development of IoT in China has undergone a process from concept to the application and exploration of information-based integrated platform, and then to the process of digitalized transformation and upgrading. It is necessary for enterprises to achieve transformation and upgrading through digital technology, especially digital technology, artificial intelligence, and big data based on internet of things and industrial internet”. He introduced the direction of explorations for the development of internet of things in the future, including the position change of information industry, the evolution of environment of telecommunication application, security and safety issue, the question regarding the positioning and property of IoT application as well as theoretic research and standard establishment.
ZUO Mozhi, Vice President of Haier Smart Home and General Manager of Haier Sanyiniao, spoke with the topic “Sanyiniao: The Exploring Road from the First Scene Brand”. According to his introduction, the platform system or application scene of IoT smart life created innovative outcomes and examples for the connectivity and closest connection of Haier intelligent manufacturing and smart home. At this summit, CASICloud co-organized the Industrial IoT Forum, where SU Tao, Executive Vice Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee, gave a welcome speech. As the representative of Gold List on the WIOTRL Top 500, CHEN Yudong, President of Bosch China, introduced the development plan of IoT industry, transportation and vehicle and platform. “In the future development, industrial IoT is closely connected with public life. We hope that relevant enterprises can see more communication and cooperation through such a platform like WIOTC and work together to build an ecosystem of internet of things so that we can contribute to the development of internet of things”, he mentioned.
REN Lintao, Executive Vice President of Haier COSMOPlat Industrial Intelligence Research Institute, spoke with the theme of “Build New Ecosystem of Industrial Internet, Create New Value of Digitalized Transformation”. He shared the process of exploration of COSMOplat centering on industrial internet of things and practices of empowerment related to cross-industry, field and region. “Industrial internet of things is the basis underpinning the development of digital economy and represents an only road to industrial transformation and upgrading. By taking digital economy as the core, we focus on platform, mechanism, management, technology, development, application, data, resource and sharing, thus realizing constant upgrading of total factor, whole value chain and whole industrial chain”, He continued.
Revolving around the topic “Helping digitalized transformation of enterprises in post-epidemic period, BAI Rui, Head of Private Wireless of Greater China, outlined the cases and practices of Nokia concerning the innovative development of IoT and digital economy in China. She suggested, “The digitalization of enterprises means the high automatization of operation of a company, and sustainable development is the most important goal.”
YU Jing, General Manager of Intelligent Manufacturing Product R & D Department the Inspur Industrial Internet, made a speech called “Ubiquitous Internet of Things and Computing Based on Identification”, summing up the exploration, application and practice of the Inspur in Internet of Things. “To achieve the interconnection of everything, we need to work together for this grand goal, and we are duty-bound to push forward with the innovation and development of digital economy”, she said.
In her speech entitled “The Platform Empowering the Digitalized Transformation of SRDI Small-and-medium-sized Enterprises”, CHEN Jing, Vice President of China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, suggested, “The Association is committed to offering a series of comprehensive services, including providing a relevant platform of digitalized transformation of enterprises and helping them build an circle of ecological partners while focusing on the integration of industry and education, introduction of technology and market expansion.
The highlights of the summit also include “International Forum on the Development of New Economy”, the theme of which is “Enhance International Cooperation to Reduce Digital Divide”. YANG He, Chief Representative of Europe Office at Investment Promotion Agency of Ministry of Commerce in China, and Noor Muhammad Kasuri, Chairman of Pak India Business Council, addressed the forum. H.E. Calos Larrea, Ambassador of the Embassy of Ecuador to China, H.E. Palitha Kohona, Ambassador of the Embassy of Sri Lanka to China, and Jeremias Neto, Counselor of Science, Technology, and Innovation of the Embassy of Brazil to China gave a detailed introduction of the situation of IoT digital technology and economic development in their own countries and related demand for such IoT and digital technology.
In her video speech, YANG He mentioned, “In the spirits of openness, cooperation, innovation and win-win outcome, the European Office of Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce will work with the Department of Electronic Information Industry of the Agency and World Internet of Things Convention to build a communitive bridge of bilateral investment for more practical and efficient information, communication and cross-border IoT industry, jointly promote China-European bilateral investment promotion and cooperation and continuously move forward”.
At the same time, in his video speech, Noor Muhammad Kasuri observed, “We will learn from World Internet of Things Convention (WIOTC) and collaborate for the improvement of business and industrial activities. We want sharing of benefits of WIOTC for people of Indo Pak region and are willing to play our part for it.”
At the State Promotion session, H.E. Calos Larrea said, “In terms of development of digital technology and connectivity, we work actively bring in the investment of Chinese companies; I believe that Ecuador can actively seize opportunities to realize development in the post-epidemic period. I also hope we can establish cooperative partnership with WIOTC to promote the development of IoT and digital economy.”
According to H.E. Palitha Kohona, Siri Lanka hope to become a hub of regional digital development so we will take a great move to develop IoT, artificial intelligence, medical technology, augmented reality, and robot, etc. We also hope to rely on the important platform of WIOTC to boost the digitalized development of Siri Lanka.
Also at the State Promotion session, Jeremias Neto said, “As early as in 2019, Brazil introduced national plan on internet of things and was actively involved in the international cooperation of areas relevant to ICT. In Brazil, 75 percent of enterprises have made public their own advocacies for IoT whereas 42 percent of enterprises have planned to launch IoT projects. In this regard, Brazil will unveil more policies, but advancing digital transformation requires common cooperation of more parties. Meanwhile, we will work with WIOTC and companies from other countries to strengthen the IoT cooperation, digital economy as well as information technology.
In his speech titled “Rural Revitalization: A Digitalization Practice of Longcom, GUO Yongjiu, Executive Dean of Institute of Advanced Technology, Anhui Longcom IoT, put forward three solutions to digital empowerment of rural revitalization: leading rural industrial upgrading, improving infrastructure construction and enhancing rural governance. He suggested, the whole solution called “Good Harvest, Good Result” targeted at rural revitalization will cover new type of rural revitalization projects supported by internet of things in hundreds of counties in China within three to five years.
SHEN Jie, Project Editor, ISO/IEC International Standard IoT Reference Architecture, gave his speech called “The Future of the IoT: Industrial Digital Operation Services”, elaborating on the top-level architecture and example of digital technology integrating with industry. “IoT is more than technology, and it means the reconstruction of industrial ecology. The basic architecture and operation mode of connection of everything remain to be sorted out and built. The “effect” created by IoT is most fundamental, yet operation service of industrial digitalization is the most basic pattern for achieving “maximum effect” of IoT”, he said.
ZHANG Zhan, General Manager of Yutong Smart Technology Co., Ltd, shared the topic “Trusted AI-Aided Medical Diagnosis Practice” as he presented the Dynamic Uncertain Causality Graph” ( DUCG) and showed the application and case of new generation of AI theoretical model, creating the first example for the digital diagnosis of cases in terms of healthcare.
Martin Schnauss, Professor for ZHAW School of Management and Law, Switzerland, made a wonderful speech called “IoT for Managing Real Estate Portfolios on the Example of Hospital Complexes”. Then, Jerome Blum, SKAN AG Development Engineer, shared the topic “IoT for SKAN Isolators”. Finally, Mandy Lin, Director China, Greater Zurich Area Ltd, introduced the Greater Area Zurich AG on the basis of the theme “IoT Relationship Management in Switzerland: Introduction to the Greater Area Zurich AG.
The summit reached the climax when 2022 World IoT Ranking List Top 500 was released. Amid rounds of applauds, WIOTC leaders, Director of UNESCO Office in Beijing and other senior diplomats participated in the awarding ceremony of the ranking list certificates and encouraged representatives of enterprises to make further progress. Tens of thousands of IoT and digital economy enterprises worldwide chosen as the basis of the ranking list stand for the development trend of global technology and digital economy.
