The World Internet of Things Ranking List (WIOTRL) was founded in 2017 by the World Internet of Things Convention (WIOTC) and the World Internet of Things Foundation. The purpose is to promote the development of the global IoT industry and the construction of its network system, encourage global enterprises to transform and upgrade towards the IoT, help with the realization of smart life and intelligent work of people all over the world, create a sustainable new world economy of the IoT, and help build the community of shared future for mankind.

Applied, reviewed and published once a year, the WIOTRL has been recognized and participated by UN agencies, industries, organizations, IoT giants, experts and scholars, and the international community. It is the authoritative ranking of the most representative and cutting-edge leading IoT economy in the world, acting as a vane of the IoT industry organizations, enterprises, technologies, products, solutions and innovative applications, demonstrating the strength of high-tech leaders in the era of "Wisdom Revolution”.

WIOTRL involves industries such as industry, agriculture, intelligent manufacturing (including artificial intelligence, industry 4.0), logistics, intelligent transportation (including internet of vehicles), WIT120, environmental protection and energy, and smart city, covering solutions and products of sensory perceptual system, cloud computing, big data and intelligent terminals.

Based on the principle of openness, fairness and justice, this activity is held through recommendation from industrial associations and organizations and self-recommendation etc. Then the list will be reviewed by a special selection committee composed of international experts and scholars from China, the United States, Germany, France, Japan, India, representatives of the IoT associations, and the WIOTC Expert Advisory Committee. The short-listed enterprises will be publicized through the official website and the public WeChat platform of WIOTC; after soliciting opinions from representatives from all walks of life, the official list will be ranked and announced, which will be published by thousands of media around the world.
